Welcome to Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for children and teenagers

A space for children and teenagers to explore their thoughts and feelings and change the way they feel about themselves.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my children and teenage page.

Children have such great imaginations which sometimes feeds their worries and anxieties eg. the monster under their bed, people laughing at them, judging them or talking about them when they walk through the school gates. All these thoughts become real in a child's head. Teenagers can sit with huge anxieties that they don't share with anyone and these can become unmanagable. CBH can help a child or teenager get rid of those thoughts and replace them with happy confident feelings that help them to start enjoying life again and sleeping soundly at night.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherepy?

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy blends cognitive behavioural techniques with hypnosis, creating a flexible and child-friendly framework for emotional healing.

Children are naturally imaginative and responsive to suggestion, which makes them ideal for this kind of therapy. Sessions often feel like guided storytelling, playful visualisation, or relaxing adventures—designed to help children reframe fears, build confidence, and develop coping skills.

What can I help you with?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy can support children with a wide range of issues, including:

•            Separation anxiety and generalised worry

•            Phobias (e.g., dogs, darkness, school, dentist)

•            Sleep difficulties and nightmares

•            Confidence and self-esteem

•            Exam stress and performance anxiety

Sessions are adapted for the child, allowing them to talk about their issues and also bringing to light what makes them happy and what gives them confidence. I can them use their personal experiences to help them learn skills to build their own confidence and calm. Each child’s journey is unique, and therapy is shaped around their personality, interests, and emotional needs.

What have I helped with?

Fear of the dentist

Fear of vomiting

Fear of flying

Separation anxiety

School anxiety

How does it work?

Sessions are designed to feel safe, engaging, and even fun.

Techniques may include:

• Relaxation and breathing techniques

• Creative visualisation and metaphor-based storytelling

•Positive suggestion and affirmations

• CBT-based reframing and coping strategies

• Interactive tools like therapeutic scripts, cards, or crafts

Why choose this approach

Cognitive hypnotherapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all method. It’s flexible, intuitive, and deeply respectful of each child’s emotional landscape. It helps children feel empowered—not just to cope, but to thrive.

As a practitioner, I believe in the power of imagination, connection, and gentle guidance. When children feel safe and understood, they begin to rewrite their inner stories—and that’s where the magic happens.

Recordings to listen to at home between sessions can help to embed what children learn in therapy helping them to feel more confident. I will also give worksheets, where appropriate to work through at home to help children identify their thoughts and feelings when feeling anxious and to learn how to manage them.
